As a Networking Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a talented team of engineers and gain hands-on experience in the design, implementation, and management of network systems and technologies.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and tech-savvy support our networking team in various networking tasks. This internship will provide you with exposure to real-world networking issues, help you develop essential technical skills, and give you the chance to contribute to the day-to-day operation of our network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of networking hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.)
- Monitor and support network performance, ensuring network availability and reliability.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design, implement, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and virtual networks (VPNs).
- Participate in network troubleshooting and support escalations, ensuring timely resolution of network-related issues.
- Assist in network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Conduct network tests and performance analysis to improve efficiency.
- Learn and implement network security best practices, including firewalls, access control, and VPN security.
- Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project planning.
- Stay up to date with new network technologies and industry trends.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and VPNs.
- Familiarity with network protocols and tools (e.g., Wireshark, Ping, Traceroute, etc.).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) and their configurations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of network operating systems (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Linux).
- Basic knowledge of network security concepts (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, encryption).
- Some experience with cloud networking or SDN (Software Defined Networking).
- Pursuing or have earned certifications such as CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent is a plus.
